Blumax material offers protection against harmful UV & blue light

We are glad to introduce a new revolutionary lens material BLUMAX.

Our everyday lives include continuous use of digital devices, but they all emit blue light. Modern LED and fluorescent lamps are also sources of blue light. About 43% of adults work in a job that requires prolonged use of a computer or tablet. Nearly 70% of adults who use media devices regularly report of experiencing some symptoms of digital eyestrain and dry eyes.

Blue light is a natural part of visible light, but excessive exposure to blue light can lead to the following changes:

  1. Disruption of circadian rhythm;
  2. Digital Eye-strain Syndrome: blurry vision, eye irritation, headaches, neck and backpain;
  3. Blue light increases the risk of macular degeneration: high exposure to blue light can damage light sensitive celss in the retina.

Digital electronic devices emit blue light that can cause eye strain and may lead to eye problems over time. New BLUMAX lens technology uses a material that filters out harmful UV and blue light ensuring better protection. When BluMax material is combined with Satin+UV coating, it will not reflect the blue-violet reflection typical to blue-blocking anti-reflective coatings.

BLUMAX can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Due to the filtering of harmful blue light entering the eyes mostly while exposed to digital devices and also outdoors, BLUMAX lenses are a perfect blend and combination for providing a strain free visual experience. Blumax absorbs, irrespective of the coating, all harmful blue-violet light and UV rays that enter within the lens material from any surface, and thus the wearer will get a total protection. Combined with anti-reflective coating, Blumax material would absorb the UV and harmful Blue-Violet Light up to 420 nm.

Blumax lenses are clear and will remain clear through the average life of any prescription, although, since a certain amount of Blue-Violet light is filtered off, a very minimal (less than 5%) creamish hue might be felt – due to the predominance of the good green-yellow light’s maximum transmission. It is good for the eye and will help in increasing the contrast.
